Baystate Health - Observerships

Qualifications:

- Individuals should be 18 years or older. - Must secure a Baystate Health employee willing to supervise the observation. - Non-Baystate Health employees may observe 8 hours annually. Baystate Health employees considering career advancement, Baystate Health volunteers, and students requiring shadowing hours for school applications may observe up to 40 hours annually. Employees who wish to observe must review and sign the observation agreement, including that it is an unpaid experience.

Overview:

Observerships, also called job shadowing, provide the opportunity to observe healthcare employees in a workplace setting. Our purpose in offering Observations is career exploration. Observerships: - help individuals learn about health career options and the required occupational skills. - are unpaid and do not fulfill any clinical or internship requirements. - do not provide any hands-on experience or training.

Brigham and Women's Hospital - MCEP

Qualifications: 

- Must be currently enrolled as a full-time undergraduate student at a local academic institution as a Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or rising Senior (until July in between Junior & Senior year), or currently enrolled as a full-time post-bacc student at a local academic institution. No exceptions will be made to these parameters. - Must be able to commit to a minimum of 12 months to complete the required 140 hours of volunteer service to Brigham and Women's Hospital (BWH). Please note that you can take breaks from the program during school vacations, study abroad, or if your semester is too busy to adhere to the commitment of the program (Ex: During summer break you can take a leave of absence and rejoin the program in the fall). - This is a long-term commitment; You will not be able to complete the program during school breaks alone. - Must have the flexibility to work weekday daytime hours: i.e., 8:00 am - 11:00 am, 11:00 am - 2:00 pm, and/or 2:00 pm - 5:00 pm, and/or 5:00 pm – 8:00pm

Overview:

Brigham and Women's Medical Career Exploration Volunteer Program (MCEP) is designed to give undergraduate college students an opportunity to gain experience in a prestigious Harvard affiliated teaching hospital in order to help them make informed career/educational decisions while also availing them the opportunity to give back to the community. The program features a rotation of assignments that builds experience and culminates in a letter of recommendation and the opportunity to round with a physician for one day.

Brandeis University - Job Shadowing

- Must be a student at Brandeis University

- Undergraduate students from all majors and class years are eligible

Overview:

The Brandeis at Work: Job Shadowing Program gives students the opportunity to observe professionals in real-world settings and learn about careers firsthand. Brandeis alumni and non-alumni partners are welcome to host. There is no cost to participate. As a host, you can welcome one or more students to shadow you virtually or in person for a few hours, a half day, or a full day on a schedule that works best for you. For many students, this may be their first professional experience. You’ll have the opportunity to model workplace expectations and help them understand what it takes to succeed. Undergraduate students from all majors and class years are eligible, and many use the experience to explore fields beyond their academic focus and gain broader insight.

Lasell University -       Micro-Work Experiences

Qualifications:

- Must be 18 years old or older

- Must be a student or recent graduate of a US-based higher education institution

Overview:

Micro work experiences are short-term, paid, professional assignments that are similar to those given to new hires or interns. These projects enable you to demonstrate skills, explore career paths, and build your networks as you seek the right full-time role. Unlike traditional internships, Micro work experiences can take place year-round, typically range from 5 to 40 hours of work, and are due between one week and one month after kick-off. Micro work experiences are used by companies ranging from those in the Fortune 100 to emerging start-ups, and go across departments including sales, marketing, technology, HR, and finance.

Boston College - Alumni Job Shadow Program

Overview:

The Alumni Job Shadow Program is an opportunity for students to gain insight into an industry/organization/job function of interest, make connections, and further discern how their skills, interests, and values translate to the workplace. Using Eagle Exchange, the Career Center will match students with Boston College alumni who will serve as hosts for half or full day shadowing experiences
