Horizon of Opportunities

Mentorship

Our mentorship program gives individuals the opportunity to connect with experienced professionals and volunteers who occupy a broad spectrum of jobs in the workforce. These volunteers can be ages 14+ and can help you determine if a specific job is right for you. Mentorship sessions can be held via call or video call, and we guarantee you get the time you want as well as the mentor of your choice!

How to book?

Just email the mentor you want to discuss with and coordinate a time and communication app that works for both of you. This will help you step out of your comfort zone and develop a necessary skill needed in the workforce. If you prefer, we can help with this, but we highly encourage you to take the steps for your own benefit. Sessions can be one-on-one or as a group.

Megan Burke

Job: Non-Profit Program Management

Field: Non-Profit Management

At 13 years old, Megan created a peer-to-peer mental health education and awareness club at her school to advocate for her sibling who has Bipolar Disorder. Through her peer-to-peer club, Megan honed her gifts as a respected mental health advocate and agent of change. Over a decade later and now a graduate of Villanova University, Megan's passion has manifested as social entrepreneur and founder of Cuerd@s, a mental health empowerment non-profit that uses embroidery to create self-soothing clothing and build communities of trust, healing, and comfort. The Cuerd@s method is self-soothing in both process and product: it engages groups in the meditative act of embroidery with the final product being a sensory tactile tool for grounding. Megan has taught Cuerd@s Workshops with the School of Fashion Design, The New England Patriots, and nearly 100 high schools across the state. Cuerd@s clothing is donated to mental health programs and strategic partners in Massachusetts and can be found in closets across the country.
